Das war ein erfolgreicher Tag heute: Unsere marriage papers vom Court House abgeholt, den Ring vom Juwelier, Schuhe fuer mich, unseren Grill .. und noch so manches wesentliche und unwesentliche.
Nun kann ich mir auch in etwa vorstellen, was für Probleme bei den Auswanderern in Vorzeiten auftraten, denn niemand konnte etwas mit meinem Nachnamen Förch anfangen. Die zwei Tüpfelchen machten ihnen riesige Schwierigkeiten. Nun steht mein Namen halt mit Forch drin. Was kann ich tun? Es half nichts, dass ich erklaerte, dass es mit OE geschrieben wird ... und Bob hat sich über die Ignoranz der Amerikaner aufgeregt.
Aber ansonsten war es ein sehr erfolgreicher Tag.
Die Heirat findet also am 30. August, wie geplant, statt. Gestern hat mich Bob auch dem Pfarrer der Presbyter Church in Bridgwater, Bobs Geburtsort, vorgestellt. Sie, der Pfarrer und seine Sekretärin, haben mich auf Herz und Nieren geprüft und für gut befunden. Die Sekretärin will unbedingt eine der Trauzeugen sein.
Mit großem Interesse hörten sie von Shoshana und der Arbeit in Indien.
Ich wußte gar nicht, dass die Presbyter so streng und fromm sind. Sie gehen zurück auf Calvin. Die Kirche hat auch schon eine lange Geschichte hinter sich. Irgendwann schreib ich mal mehr darüber.

That was a very successful day. We got our marriage papers from the Court House. We picked up my ring at the jeweler. I finally found a pair of wedding shoes. We got our grill and some other important and less important stuff.
My last name caused quite some problems because of the two dots on the O , now my name is written als Forch instead of Förch. What can I do? It did not help a bit that I explained it is written with O and E .. and Bob got mad at the ignorance of the Americans. But otherwise it really was a successful day.
The wedding will take place as planned on the 30th of August. Yesterday Bob introduced me to the pastor of the Presbyter church in Brigdewater. Bobs birthplace. The pastor and his secretary checked me out and thought I was alright .. so the secretary wants to be our witness at the marriage ceremony. They were very interested about Shoshana and our work in India.
The Presbyterians go back to the reformer Calvin. The church itself has a long history. I will tell about it later.
Tomorrow I will go shopping. Drive with my Jeep with an open top and enjoy the sun and air.
Bob will prepare our table on the deck and maybe in the evening we will celebrate our new grill.
